Meet our Board
Barry Beisner - Ex-Officio Chairman

The Rt. Rev. Barry Leigh Beisner was elected the seventh Bishop of the Diocese of Northern California on May 6, 2006 and serves as Ex-Officio Chairman of The Episcopal Foundation of Northern California. 

He was ordained and consecrated as Bishop Coadjutor on September 30, 2006.  He became Bishop of Northern California on January 1, 2007.

Bishop Beisner was born in Dayton, Ohio on June 5, 1951.  He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History in 1973, and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He received the Master of Divinity degree in 1978 from The Church Divinity School of the Pacific, the Master of Sacred Theology degree from The General Theological Seminary in 1994, and the degree of Doctor of Divinity from The General Theological Seminary in 2007.

He was ordained to the diaconate in 1978 and to the priesthood in 1979 in the Diocese of California.

He served as Assistant to the Rector at St. Stephen’s in San Luis Obispo, California from 1978-1979 and as Vicar of St. Paul’s in Cambria, California from 1978-1980. Concurrently, he was a chaplain at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo.  From 1980-1983, he was the Associate Rector of St. Mark’s in Upper Arlington, Ohio; he also co-led a new church plant in a neighboring community of Dublin.  He returned to California to serve as Rector of The Church of the Incarnation, San Francisco from 1983-1989.  He next served as Rector of St. Martin’s in Davis from 1989-2002.  While there, he was instrumental in founding Davis Community Meals, helping to feed and house the community’s poor.  He was a Field Education Supervisor and Lecturer in Pastoral and Practical Theology with the Church Divinity School of the Pacific, and a Chaplain for the Clergy Leadership Project.  He also served as an Army Reserve Chaplain.

He was named Canon to the Ordinary to Bishop Jerry Lamb of the Diocese of Northern California in 2002, and took on responsibility for congregational development, transition ministry, clergy support and development, and shared ministry in a geographically widespread and demographically diverse diocese.

He currently serves as Chair of The Episcopal Church’s Board for Transition Ministry, President of the Province VIII Court of Review, member of the Board of Directors of the Church Divinity School of the Pacific, and member of the Council of Advice of Episcopal Camps and Conference Centers.  He is also a member of Bishops Working for a Just World and Friends of the Diocese of Jerusalem, and of the Board of Anglican Theological Review.

Bishop Beisner has been married to The Rev. L. Ann Hallisey since 1998, and together they have six grown children.

Charles R. Mack is Chancellor of the Diocese and serves on and advises several Diocesan bodies.  He is a Deputy to General Convention.  He is also a member of St. Luke’s Church in Woodland, where he serves as chair of the Stewardship Committee and sings in the choir.

He grew up in Sacramento and has an AB from U. C. Berkeley and an LLB from Boalt Hall.  He served as County Counsel of the County of Yolo, where he retired as the longest serving ever county counsel in the State.


David Bundesen, CFRE - President

David has been a professional fundraiser for over 16 years. His home parish is St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Benicia, CA where he is the Director of the Planned Giving Commission and actively encouraging Planned Giving that included St. Paul's Episcopal Church.  He also sings in the Contemporary Choir there.

He holds a Baccalaureate of Science in Organizational Behavior and Leadership from the University of San Franciso where he graduated with honors. He also recieved the Deans Service Award from the School of Business and Professional Studies.

Jeanne W. George is a member of the Church of St. Martin in Davis.  She has served as  a chairperson for the Stewardship Commission and helped establish the St. Martin's General Endowment and served on The Endowment Committee.

She grew up on Long Island, NY, attended veterinary school at Cornell University and has a PhD in veterinary pathology from the University of Georgia. She is a retired faculty member from the UC-Davis School of Veterinary Medicine.

Jack is a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal.  He owns a small winery and makes his own olive oil. He is married with six children and 5 grand children.

Cynthia Woods
Email Cynthia

Cynthia Woods graduated from Westmar College, LeMars, Iowa with a Bachelors Degree in Religion.  She moved to Southern California in 1980 where she worked in Los Angeles for twenty years. 

She was active in two churches in the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles, All Saints Pasadena and when she moved to Huntington Beach, she joined Saint Wilfrid of York.  Cynthia has help with many volunteer programs in the church including fund raising activities.  

In 2009, she and her partner packed up their two cats and cold weather jackets and moved to Northern California.  Cynthia is currently a member of Saint Alban’s Church in Arcata.
