About Us

What is The Episcopal Foundation of Northern California (EFNC)?

The Episcopal Foundation of Northern California (EFNC) was established as a nonprofit corporation in 1983.  It is an institution of the Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Northern California and is subject to the provisions of its Constitution and Canons. The Board of Directors is composed of the Bishop, the chancellor and up to 15 elected members, representing congregations throughout Northern California. The Board, as a Committee of the Whole, sets policy for the Foundation and acts on recommendations of the Board Committees: Executive, Planning, Evaluation, and Nominating, Promotion & Education, and Finance. From 1992 to 2010, The Foundation has facilitated gifts totaling $36,114,900.00.  Of these, 75.18% have benefited Churches, 14.46% the Diocese, 7.78% Diocesan Institutions, 2.58% outside the Diocese.

Our Mission Statement:

“The Mission of The Episcopal Foundation of Northern California is to make disciples, raise up saints and transform communities for Christ in Northern California by enhancing the financial vitality of our congregations and institutions. We will accomplish this through education, consultation, management and co-ordination with individuals and local and Diocesan leadership.”

We are your Episcopal sisters and brothers, and our purpose is to strengthen all of us for the mission of the church. In support of your efforts we offer the following:

  • Provide educational information and materials on how to make specific planned gifts.
  • Facilitate gifts of stock so you don’t have to set up your own brokerage account.
  • Offer a Life Planning Guide Workshop to your congregation or regional group.
  • Sponsor The Vine and Branch Society
  • Commission grant research that identifies various local funding sources for the ongoing work of the church in Northern California
  • Provide the ”Let’s Get To It!” program and other resources to congregations that want to develop the ministry of planned giving.
  • Listen to your needs and identify appropriate resources for you.
